For me as a translator the main objective was to transfer the authors message without sounding to „fluffy“. One big difference between the US and German audience (especially in the context of B2B marketing) is that you have to be very careful with the conversational tone many English source texts inherit. What feels friendly and accessible to a marketer from the US might come across as flippant and unprofessional in German. At the same time, this specific supplier’s preferred tone of voice IS friendly and accessible, so the challenge was to find a German way to convey this in a professional manner – something I achieved as you can tell from the feedback under clients.
